  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 cups old fashioned oats
  • 1 1/4 cups holiday M&M’s
  • 1 cup mini pretzel sticks, crushed
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or chunks
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350° F (175°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat together the room temperature butter, dark brown sugar, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until well combined and creamy.
  4. Beat in the 2 large eggs, one at a time, until each egg is fully incorporated.
  5. Beat in the additional 1 egg yolk until combined.
  6. Add the all-purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, and kosher salt to the wet ingredients.
  7. Beat the mixture until just combined.
  8. Add the old fashioned oats to the dough.
  9. Beat until the oats are fully incorporated.
  10. Gently fold in 1 cup of the holiday M&M's.
  11. Gently fold in the crushed mini pretzel sticks.
  12. Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips or chunks.
  13. Gently fold in the white chocolate chips until all mix-ins are evenly distributed.
  14. Roll the cookie dough into 1/4 cup sized balls.
  15. Place the dough balls 3 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.
  16. Transfer the baking sheet to the preheated oven.
  17. Bake for 8 minutes.
  18. Rotate the baking pan 180 degrees for even baking.
  19. Bake for an additional 2 minutes.
  20. Carefully pull the pan out of the oven.
  21. Press the remaining 1/4 cup of M&M's into the tops of the warm cookies.
  22. Return the pan to the oven and bake for another 2-3 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centers are still slightly soft.
  23. Remove the cookies from the oven.
  24. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for at least 10-15 minutes; they will continue to set as they cool.
  25. Serve warm or let cool completely before storing.

Notes

Ensure butter is at room temperature for a smooth, creamy dough.
Do not overmix the dough once flour is added, as this can make cookies tough.
Old fashioned oats are crucial for texture; do not substitute with quick oats.
Pressing extra M&M’s onto hot cookies makes them extra pretty and festive.
