Start your day with these rich, creamy, and naturally energizing chocolate overnight oats — a delicious and easy make-ahead breakfast.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole rolled oats (gluten free, if needed)
  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons natural almond butter
  • 2 heaping tablespoons plant-based chocolate protein powder (optional, see notes)
  • 2 heaping tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 2 heaping tablespoons mini dark chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Combine the oats in a bowl.
  2. Add the chia seeds to the bowl.
  3. Pour in the pure maple syrup.
  4. Add the natural almond butter.
  5. Stir in the plant-based chocolate protein powder (if using).
  6. Add the cocoa powder.
  7. Pour in the unsweetened vanilla almond milk.
  8. Mix all ingredients very well to combine until smooth.
  9. Stir in the mini dark chocolate chips.
  10. Divide the mixture evenly between two jars or tupperware containers.
  11. Place the containers in the fridge.
  12. Leave in the fridge overnight, or for a minimum of 5 hours.
  13. In the morning, before eating, warm in the microwave for 30 seconds (optional).
  14. Top with a drizzle of almond butter and a sprinkle of chocolate chips.
  15. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

Use whole rolled oats for the best texture; instant oats can become too mushy.
If omitting protein powder, you might add an extra teaspoon of cocoa powder for flavor.
Ensure thorough mixing to avoid clumps of dry ingredients.
These oats are delicious served cold, but can be warmed briefly if preferred.
